Google+ Berding Surveying | PROJECT SAMPLE: Hospital Shell Fit-Out

Berding Surveying is able to use multiple systems for capturing detailed 360-degree, 3D data sets of any man-made or natural structure with extreme accuracy.

PROJECT SAMPLE: Hospital Shell Fit-Out

TASK: Client was retrofitting a hospital shell space.  The space was new and drawings were available.  However, knowing that design drawings do not accurately reflect the building as constructed, a new model was desired to assist the fit-out team in creating design and construction drawings.

SOLUTION: Berding spent 1 day scanning the 20,000 square foot space. Using the point cloud, a 3D model was created utilizing Revit, AutoCAD and Leica Cyclone software. Structural elements were modeled. MEP items were modeled. The architectural shell was modeled. Client was provided with the final DWG model and TruView files, to allow virtual access to site.

OUTCOME: Knowing the as-built location of MEP and structure allowed the client to efficiently design the fit-out of the space. New MEP installations were able to be routed around existing conflicts. Shell space was able to be fit out efficiently and cost effectively. Costly field conflicts were avoided by the upfront investment allowing for time and material savings once construction work began.
